Fred Nitek & John Fernandez were right next to us and jigged up dozens of perch. Lou Tarascio, Kevin Scanlon and Sam Hoagland stopped by to visit and we saw some one water skiing on the main lake.

TIMES --------------------- 8:30 am to 1:30 pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Balmy
AREA FISHED ------------- Lake Hopatcong Cove
FISHING METHOD ------- Jigging
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Wax Worms
NOTES --------------------- Its one of my favorite times once again, ice fishing. Pounded the perch and bluegills most of the day fishing on 4 inches of ice. Used several ice jigs with wax worms. My 11 year old son and myself took our limits of yellow perch. Great eating fish. Also had on 2 pickeral which we could see fighting under the ice but lost them, cutting through 17lb test leader. Happy New Year to everyone!

TIMES --------------------- 11am-4pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Windy and cold
AREA FISHED ------------- Lake's End
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip-ups and Jig
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners, Jigging Rapala
NOTES --------------------- Yes tip-ups, ice fishing the shallows in Landing on ice that's from 3 to 4 inches thick (the state park has a little less). I caught 3 yellow perch (2 on tip-ups and one jigging) and lost a couple. I had a decent pickerel on a tip-up that I could see under the ice but he thrashed near the hole and I lost him due to knot failure, bummer! I missed a second large fish, while looking down the hole watching my lure action a fish appeared and sucked in the lure then spit it back out as I tried to set the hook. I'm not sure if it was a pickerel or a muskie, it looked more brown than black and green.

TIMES --------------------- 10:30am-12:30pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Cloudy, turning sunny
AREA FISHED ------------- Bedbug
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Coming from the state park at the start of the day the outboard motor blew up (Sorry Eric!) going around Bertrand Island. I decided to fish that area since I was there and wasn't going anywhere in a hurry. I used the electric trolling motor to anchor into position and starting banging fish, five pickerel up to 23 inches and two largemouth bass (12 and 15 inches). The clouds gave way to sunshine right after I pulled up anchor, so I limped back to the state park basking in the sun.

CONDITIONS ------------- Calm and sunny
AREA FISHED ------------- Elba Point
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners

DATE ---------------------- 12/5/99
TIMES --------------------- 11am-4pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Mostly sunny
AREA FISHED ------------- Various points and islands
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Yellow Perch was the only thing I got in the boat. The one decent fight I had bit off the line under the boat, probably a pickerel or muskie. A couple guys on the radio had luck earlier in the day jigging and one club member caught 2 muskies on Saturday while flat-line trolling and a walleye on Sunday, also flat-lining.

DATE ---------------------- 12/4/99
TIMES --------------------- 10am-2pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Partly sunny and mostly windy
AREA FISHED ------------- Sunken Island
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Not a bad day, we caught 2 decent walleye (18 and 20 inches), a few perch, a small largemouth bass, and a pickerel. The bait on slip bobbers saw all the action while jigging and bait straight down saw none.
