AREA FISHED ------------- Bertrand Island area and Van Every Cove

NOTES --------------------- New member, trying to learn the lake over last 5 outings. Been fishing 8 to 15 feet of water using rapalas, spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Caught a total of 17 fish last two outings. Caught one fish today which was a beautiful looking 33 inch hybrid muskie. I would have spent more time on the lake today if it wasn't for the chill but was very happy w/ my catch.

DATE ---------------------- 10/16-17
TIMES --------------------- sunrise Sat. to 2pm Sun.
CONDITIONS ------------- Variably cloudy to sunny and warm
AREA FISHED ------------- Main lake
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait, casting, and trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring and various lures
NOTES --------------------- The live bait out produced lures by far. Saturday seemed to be the better day for catching fish, but both days produced a lot of fish - 37 total (14 yellow perch, 13 pickerel, 4 walleyes, 2 smallmouth, a largemouth, a striper, a crappie, a catfish, ... and a partridge in a pear tree). No one on the radio boasted of any great catches but the Welsh brothers kicked some serious butt on the leader board!

Also caught a largemouth and a yellow perch. Another club member trolled up a couple of walleye in deeper water. It was a a little windy but a nice day on the water.

CONDITIONS ------------- Cool and misty turning partly cloudy
AREA FISHED ------------- All over
FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait, casting and trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring and various lures
NOTES --------------------- Webguy and I started out with live bait on The Ridge and got a 21" walleye and a 24" pickerel then moved near Bertrand's Island and got a half dozen perch. We ran low on bait and patience so we started to troll along the weed lines of the main lake and picked up 2 true strain muskies, 30 and 32 inches long. We left the lake with smiles ear to ear!
