NAME --------------------- Rich

DATE ---------------------- July 30, 2000

TIMES --------------------- 6:30AM - NOON

CONDITIONS ------------- Rainy

AREA FISHED ------------- River Styx and Elba point

FISHING METHOD ------- Live bait

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shinners, worms, rubber grubs

NOTES --------------------- Caught too many Large Mouth bass to keep count of. Also caught a lot of perch, and sunnies. The largest bass was caught on a Rainbow colored grub on a Jig. The rest of the fish was caught on worms. The day ended with a 2 1/2 Trout caught with a worm. Some times a little bit of luck doesn't hurt.

NAME --------------------- Tim Clancy

DATE ---------------------- July 30th

TIMES --------------------- 1 pm- 3 pm

CONDITIONS ------------- Overcast light boat traffic for a Sun.

AREA FISHED ------------- Nolans Point

FISHING METHOD ------- Down rigging

BAIT/LURES USED ------- 5" Rattlin Rapala

NOTES --------------------- Bound and determined to catch a summer trout and dragged a variety of lures from 8-18 feet off of Nolans Point. Just about ready to give up because boat traffic was getting a little tough when I got a 4 lb 4 oz Walleye at 18 feet. Not the trout I was hoping for, but still a nice fish.

NAME --------------------- Vern

DATE ---------------------- 7/26/00

TIMES --------------------- 7-9:30pm

CONDITIONS ------------- RAIN !

AREA FISHED ------------- River Styx

FISHING METHOD ------- Bait

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring

NOTES --------------------- The rain kept most people off the lake but it wasn't too bad. I fished in 15ft of water and got a walleye, then 3 catfish, an 8lb striper, another catfish, and a largemouth bass to end the evening. The striper made a few runs around the boat and tangled with a few other lines before I landed and released him. It took a while to re-group!

NAME --------------------- Mike Rokosh

DATE ---------------------- 7/20 and 7/25

TIMES --------------------- Evening

CONDITIONS ------------- Fair and slightly breezy

AREA FISHED ------------- Coves

FISHING METHOD ------- Worming

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Plastic worms

NOTES --------------------- I purchased President Lou Marcucci's old tin boat recently. I swear I could hear the fish saying "Psst! Lou's here! Watch out!", on my initial outings on the lake! After they realized it was me they let their guard down. OK, maybe I'm just learning the lake. If Lou knew how I'm catchin' em now he'd want to buy it back!. Anyway, was out with my fishin' buddies, Jr Club members John and Andrew Gottberg of Long Valley. On the 20th, John did a great job landing a hard fighting 3lb Largemouth, working it out from under the boat and netting it by himself. On the 25th younger brother Andrew had an equally impressive experience. A Bucketmouth buried itself in the weeds. As I watched Andrews pole bend to the breaking point and then was amazed at how the drag exploded, I tried to calmly tell him not to "muscle" it out. Keeping tension and letting it come out of the weeds slowly resulted in a 4lber. Probably a bigger thrill for me than them. Watch for these two guys on the Jr leader board. They're not finished yet.

TIMES --------------------- Dark

CONDITIONS ------------- Calm

AREA FISHED -------------

FISHING METHOD ------- Home Made Bait

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Old family secret recipe

NOTES --------------------- What a great night for catfishing!!! My 4 year old nephew Edwin Patrick Byk pulled in his first Channel cat weighing 1lb 10oz. He said he had to really use his muscles! It was his first channel and a first of our many to catch this night. His Mom was just as happy when she pulled in a 2 1/2 lb channel. We ended up with 1/2 dozen channels and about 50 Bullheads. We were getting warmed up for the Catfish contest. We entered both at ALL Bait and Tackle for the weekly contest. We hope to hearing from them soon about the results.

NAME --------------------- Larry Mazalatis

DATE ---------------------- 7/22

TIMES --------------------- 5:30 AM - 10:00 AM

CONDITIONS ------------- Sunny & Warm - Windy Later

AREA FISHED ------------- Pickeral Point & Chestnut Point

FISHING METHOD ------- Flat Lining

BAIT/LURES USED ------- shiners

NOTES --------------------- Fished with my brother and a friend using mostly Shiners (no herring available). Caught 2 crappie and around 6 perch early off of Pickeral point as well as one 1 1/2Lb. pickeral all off of the live bait. Also caught one 4Lb. 7Oz. walleye casting a Yazuri while at Pickeral point. Our first mistake was moving to fish near Bertrands Island, our second was moving again to fish between Racoon and Halsey Islands because we were skunked in both spots. Later we fished off of Chestnut point and got somewhere around 6 more perch before the wind and rough water wore us down. I'm looking for someone to give me a few pointers on fishing for channel cats. If your feeling generous (especially if your name is Byk) please give me a call or drop me an e-mail. FISHING METHOD ------- trolling and bait

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Rapala's and herring

NOTES --------------------- Targeting pickerel as a warm up for the contest, we tried trolling the shoreline and weed edges around the main lake for a few hours at first light. A little slow, we only got one pickerel about 20 inches then switched over to bait. Bait fishing was much more productive with 8 fish caught in about the same amount of time as the one trolling. Total was 4 pickerel (biggest was 22 inches), 3 yellow perch, a largemouth, and a walleye. As an aside, the brown trout are still hitting, Pat Lange got one on herring this morning.
