KDC Fishing Report
For June 2000

CONDITIONS ------------- light winds

AREA FISHED ------------- main lake and great cove

FISHING METHOD ------- trolling and bait

BAIT/LURES USED ------- phoebes, thundersticks, yozuri and rappala

NOTES --------------------- trolled everything at all speeds and only caught a small pickerel. trolling did not work. picked up Bob and used bait between Lauries barges. caught crappie, pickerel and catfish. I think we should have set up on drop in deeper water for walleye and striper will try next. Used bottom bouncer and bait died in deep water. worked by barges.

NOTES --------------------- Shoreline for weekend competition was slow. Only small fish, spent to much time there.In final hrs of competition made change to go out into deep water( over 15 ft) around barnes ridge with herring on jig heads, assorted colors and at 11:30am between boat traffic tagged a 6lb 1oz Hybrid Striper, number 2 for the year,but not heavy enough to take third. Congrats to all the winners.

NOTES --------------------- We boated a 17 inch brown trout (KDC-00 tag), a perch, a pickerel, a brown catfish, and 3 crappie. Fished bait straight down in rod holders and out with slip bobbers, both at around 15 feet down gearing up for the weekend's contest.

NOTES --------------------- Fished 10 to 12:30 trolled main lake lost 2 trout, 1 rainbow couldn't get in my net. Estimate to be 7lbs plus. lost a large brown also. Fished 2 to 5 and caught 2 hybreds and 2 trout. all on silver and blue 1/2oz phoebes. All on rigger 11 to 20 ft. Same speed 3mph. Fished evening with Bob. So windy could only troll. No hits. Evenings seem to be hard is it weather or boat traffic. Good luck to all and report to you soon

NOTES --------------------- caught 4 trout all on rigger 8 to 20 ft. caught 3 stripers on wire line with clown jr. thunderstick. put my boat in lake and fished with bob and caught nothing. i believe boat traffic causes poor fishing until after dark. going to try for smallies next. all trout on 1/2 oz phoebes 3 on gold 1 on silver and blue. my e mail address is E.SANTOLI@WORLDNET.ATT.NET if you want to talk.

NOTES --------------------- started off slow, 1 small rock bass on a jitterbug, lost nice smallmouth when it jumped at boat, 3 lb largemouth bass on jitterbug but highlight of trip was 4.5 lb walleye on the j-bug. All in all not bad for the first night out, definately not the last.

NOTES --------------------- caught first fish 12 ft down knee deep rainbow 19 inches 2lbs 10oz on a 1/2 oz gold and red phoebe. caught close to chestnut point. caught 4 hybreds on silver and blue 1/2 oz phoebe 15 to 20 ft down between the ridge and chestnut point. caught a state brown trout by glass house on gold phoebe 20 ft down. caught a knee deep brown on gold 1/2 oz phoebe 10 ft down in middle of lake between chestnut and pickerel points.got 5th hybred on gold phoebe 15 ft down by glass house in 40ft od water

CONDITIONS ------------- Sunny but breezy and cool.

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Pheobes and Rapalas

NOTES --------------------- Flat lines and downriggers were both working. We got 5 rainbows from 10-13 inches and a 14 inch brown trout. Three state fish, 2 club fish, and one without a tag.

NOTES --------------------- Caught one pickeral and a few perch early, nothing for an hour or so and then a few brown catfish and one small (2Lb.) channel cat. Overall, I was not too unhappy but I'd really like to get out and learn how to fish with downriggers for some trout.
