CONDITIONS ------------- WINDY!!!!!!!!!! Warm about 58
AREA FISHED ------------- Woodport
FISHING METHOD ------- trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- small Rapala & 1/8 oz. Phoebe
NOTES --------------------- First day out in 2000, started off with a couple nice pickerel. In about 12 feet of water got a hit on the Phoebe thinking it was another pickerel until it started taking line, a lot of line. Shut the motor off, brought the other line in and fought the fish for at least 5 to 8 minutes using 6 lb. test. Brought in a 32 inch, 7 1/2 lb. Tiger Muskie, my first muskie ever. Being alone and not wanting to hurt the fish in any way, no pictures, just great memories and a huge adrenalin rush.

DATE ---------------------- 3/25, 3/26
TIMES --------------------- (3-6pm),(noon-6pm)
CONDITIONS ------------- Mostly sunny, some wind and clouds
AREA FISHED ------------- shallow flats
FISHING METHOD ------- Flat-line trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Rapala's and Thundersticks
NOTES --------------------- Saturday afternoon was pretty calm and the afternoon sun seemed to heat up the action. I boated 6 pickerel up to 23 inches long and a small largemouth bass. Sunday started out somewhat calm but the wind and clouds increased, at least it didn't slow down the fishing. I got 12 pickerel and a crappie but nothing big, maybe next time. The water temperature is in the mid 40's and I suspect the action will only get better!

TIMES --------------------- 10am-5pm
CONDITIONS ------------- RAIN+WIND+SNOW=COLD
AREA FISHED ------------- State Park to Lake Forest
FISHING METHOD ------- Trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Stick-baits
NOTES --------------------- I spent most of the day cruising around breaking in a new motor by varying the speed, and flat line trolled the shallows here and there. I got a largemouth bass above Brady's Bridge around noon and a couple pickerel between 3 and 4 o'clock near the State Park. The bigger pickerel was 25 inches and weighed 4lbs.2oz., the smaller was 24 inches long. It's great to be on the water again!

NAME --------------------- Bob Neals and Webguy
DATE ---------------------- 3/4/2000
TIMES --------------------- 8am-6pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Unseasonably warm
AREA FISHED ------------- River Styx
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip-ups
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- We had 8-10 inches of solid ice but you had to get out on it from the docks because the edges were wet and soft. The morning started out cold and windy and the fishing was slow with only a small pickerel caught before noon. As the day warmed the top of the ice softened and the action picked up with 4 more pickerel taken along with 2 largemouth bass and 3 yellow perch. Possibly the last safe weekend on the ice, we'll see!
