CONDITIONS ------------- Overcast and cold. Snow predicted for evening
AREA FISHED ------------- State Park
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip-Ups
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Fished the bank near the river channel in 5 to 8 feet of water. Relatively slow day. Had 4 flags go off. Caught one nice perch over a pound and lost a much larger fish when the line broke. Never got to see what it was but assume a several pound pickerel. The other two fish dropped the bait before we could set the hook.

NOTES --------------------- Fished the Lake for panfish. Caught 40 perch to one pound. No bluegills. Caught one 18 inch pickerel. Fishing was a little slow, but the panfish bite was good all day. I think there was about 8 to 10 inches of ice. Buddies of mine fished another area of lake and caught 6 nice crappie to 13 inches. I saw these fish and they were nice.

NOTES --------------------- A sunny, clear and cold day on 8 inches of ice. In attendance for this excursion were myself, and fellow club members, Jim DiSilvestro, Bill Mayfield, Jr., Bill Mayfield, III and Dan Mayfield. Caught lots of Yellow Perch (too many to count), and some decent Pickerel, one that was caught by Bill Mayfield, III, which weighed in at 4 Lbs. 1 Oz., qualifying for a New Jersey Skillful Anglers Award and one caught by yours truly, weighing in at 3 Lbs. 12 Oz. We all enjoyed our traditional BBQ with Italian Soppersata as our appetizer of the day, followed by sausage sandwiches and Venicen Ala-Pie-Eye, being the featured entrees.

TIMES --------------------- 7am to 1:00 pm
CONDITIONS ------------- Sunny, Windy
AREA FISHED ------------- Northwood
FISHING METHOD ------- Jigging
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Spoons and jigs
NOTES --------------------- Fished for panfish with my 11 year old son. Caught 50 perch and blugill including throwbacks. Ice is anywhere from 4 to 8 inches. Lake seems to be totally frozen as I drove around the lake. The bite at first light was agressive, but later you had to finesse them to get them to bite. Perch ranged from 8 to 11 inches and some bluegill were adult hand size.

CONDITIONS ------------- Windy and cool
AREA FISHED ------------- Riverstyx
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip-ups and jigging
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners and Swedish Pimple
NOTES --------------------- When I went out I was the only one in sight, then after a couple of hours hordes of skaters descended upon the ice. My catch was a couple yellow perch and a few stolen baits. A guy 30 feet away bagged a 2-1/2 lb. largemouth that made his day. The 3 inches of ice should become 6 by the weekend, at least in the shallows.

CONDITIONS ------------- 3 1/2 inches of ice & going fast
AREA FISHED ------------- Between Halsey & Racoon Islands
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip ups
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Lou used shiners and I think he dipped mine in arsenic
NOTES --------------------- Fished right along side of Lou, even drilled three of his holes. My closest tip up was within 15', farthest 50'. Same bait, same rigs, same depths. Lou-- 15 flags, landed eight perch, 2 pickerel to 3 lbs & one large mouth 2 1/2 lbs. Me-- not one flag all stinking day. Did get to see two Bald Eagles though. I guess you got to be President to catch fish in the lake this year. Have a New Year!

TIMES --------------------- 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
CONDITIONS ------------- Mild both days in the 40s
AREA FISHED ------------- River Styx
FISHING METHOD ------- Tip-ups
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- 2 beautiful days to be out on 5 inches of ice. Unfortunately, days like these aren't real good for keeping ice in the lake, as we lost at least a 1/2 inch of the frozen stuff by saturday afternoon and trekked back at the end of the day through lots of water. After catching a largemouth bass, lots of Perch, and some decent Pickerel, we enjoyed a BBQ with sausage sandwiches and venicen stew being the featured entrees, as we kept a close watch on the tip-ups. In attendance for this 2 day fish-fest were myself and fellow club members, Jim DiSilvestro, Bill Mayfield, Jr., Bill Mayfield, III, Dan Mayfield, Bob Neals and the Jim Archambault.

NOTES --------------------- 3 Jims, 2 Bills, Dan, and Bob out on the shallow side of the bridge. Lots of perch, pickerel, and largemouth bass caught through about 5 inches of ice. I landed 6 and broke off 2 to start the year and got 7 fish (and lost 2) the day before to close out 1999. The breakout of species for the two days that I caught was 6 yellow perch, 4 pickerel, and 3 largemouth bass.
