FISHING METHOD ------- live line heering with lindy floater
NOTES --------------------- Fished chesnut point/lees marina area. rain came down hard after 2130 (pm). Didn't get to see the usual piranna like action after dark. but same principal (stay close to stone walls in 3-6 ft of water prevailed!) Only got 7 stripers (15-24 in) 1 walleye (24 in) and three crappie. Trick is to use a lindy floater to keep a live lined heering from diving into weeds in shallows. I released all stripers, and kept a nice walleye for eatin!

FISHING METHOD ------- Freelining & weighted live bait & casting various lures
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Live herring and chicken livers; also various lures
NOTES --------------------- A few days earlier myself and fellow KDC member Nick Marchitto were fishing from the shore and we put a rod (baited with live herring) down for a minute and the next thing we knew it rocketed into the water and disappeared. We went back the next day and made sure our rods were secured. This time we had two lines snapped. I guess we weren't prepared for what we both assumed was a hybrid striper. We made some adjustments and went back for one more try. Nick started off with a nice 24" pickerel that was just decimating our baited herrings. Then later, after landing some small catfish, one of our secured rods bent in half and the drag was just peeling. The fish hit close to shore and didn't get too far before I reeled it in range of our net and I landed my first striper.

NOTES --------------------- A little large mouth bass hit my swim bait (second cast) as soon as we started fishing, but then we had nothing for about an hour. Then the live bait started getting attacked: another large mouth and a few small catfish. We were about to leave when another line went out on the weighted live herring. I grabbed the rod and landed my first walleye of the season.
