CONDITIONS ------------- Sunny and VERY windy
AREA FISHED ------------- Nolan's Point
WATER TEMPERATURE-- ??
FISHING METHOD ------- Free lined herring and lures from shore
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Swim baits and live herring
NOTES --------------------- We didn't have any luck until we started using heavily weighted swim baits to cast through the strong winds. We landed two nice large mouth bass about 2lbs each and then a chunky 22 inch pickerel just under 4lbs. After missing something on my free lining live herring my friend, Nick, landed a just under 5lbs walleye (probably the one I missed 5 minutes earlier). It was a very nice 2 hours just before sunset. All fish were released.

I caught 1 small pick, a 2lb largemouth and the biggest smallie I had ever caught on Lake Hopatcong, 4lbs 15oz. Joe had to turn the motor off for me to get the fish in. Hey Joe is it June 15th yet?? AREA FISHED ------------- Pickerel and Chestnut points, trolled everywhere
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 53 up to almost 60
FISHING METHOD ------- Drifting and Trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring, Phoebes and Rapalas
NOTES --------------------- Took my Dad out today. Drifting herring in the morning didn't pan out. I was marking a ton of bait and fish off the points, but no takers. Trolling produced a bunch of pickerel from the Windlass to Brady's and between the islands. Added one largemouth between the islands in the same spot I had the biggest pickerel. Kind of a slow day overall, but the weather was perfect nothing beats putting Dad on a few fish.

Chuck added a walleye trolling and two hybrids when we switched back to drifting at the end of the day. Windy out there - all fish were released.

FISHING METHOD ------- casting
BAIT/LURES USED ------- rubber worms and spinner baits
NOTES --------------------- First time out this year great to get the boat on the water. Started working down the Landing Channel not much except a lot of boat traffic from the Bass Tournament. Headed up to Indian Island and I caught 2 LMB on a spinner bait about 1.5 to 2 lbs. Stepson Krystian caught a fiesty Pickeral on a spinner bait, could not believe that a small pickeral could bend a spinner bait into a pretzel like that. Had to go to baseball practice so had to leave the lake early.

CONDITIONS ------------- wind had finally calmed down a little
AREA FISHED ------------- Ferry to Nolan's Point
WATER TEMPERATURE-- ?
FISHING METHOD ------- trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- phoebe
NOTES --------------------- Too cold & windy in the AM, but wanted to break in the new boat, so went out late in the day. Dragged phoebe from Ferry towards Nolans Pt. Just past the Windlass I got whacked real hard. I could tell it was a big fish and I'm thinking trout & hoping Laurie's is still open because this fish is definitely going to the scales. Work him towards the boat & I see it's just a chunky five pound striper. Lure is in his lip so I nix the net and try to lip him. He wiggles out of my grip twice so I just lift him up from under the gill plate and give my self a nasty gash. Get the fish back in the water and I've got blood all over my nice new white boat. Decide to troll back home but I've got no bandages so I press my finger on my pant leg. Immediately I get another fish, this time a pickerel and he's bleeding pretty good. So by the time I get him unhooked and back in the water there's blood all over. His & mine. So "Skid Marks" is officially retired & the new boat is christened "The Blood Pit". All in all that striper was a real nice way to break in the boat.

I scored a fat pumpkinseed on the #2 Mepps and a decent largemouth on a pumpkin/chartreuse Yum fork dinger. Saw a guy catch a walleye from shore from the little point. It was his first walleye and he tried to lip it like a bass. Ouch. All fish, including the walleye I saw caught, were released.

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- I was out in the Water Gap all morning, but joined Chuck in the afternoon. Chuck had some action in the morning before I got there trolling with small Rapals and hooked a huge pickerel jigging with the Binksy off Pickerel Pt. We fished Pickerel point when I got there and Chuck nailed a nice 23-inch walleye before he had to head out. I helped stock the trout, then fished for another hour and nailed a beautiful smallmouth off Chestnut. Only thing worse than not having someone to take a picture was not thinking to weigh it in. My lip-grip scale is not very accurate, but this fish was somewhere over 3lbs. Oh well, at least it's alive. Beautiful day.
