TIMES --------------------- 7:00-5:00 & 7:00-2:00
CONDITIONS ------------- Nice
AREA FISHED ------------- Hendersons Cove, Byram and Bed Bug
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 62-65
FISHING METHOD ------- Cranking and yanking
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Jigs, Poppers & Spinnerbaits
NOTES --------------------- Started off fast for the future King (Mike P) sitting in the back of my boat. He started by catching 2 smallies on a popper at the same time then proceded to catch fish anywhere we tried. We caught loads of perch, pickerel, largemouth bass and a few crappies. Lost some smallies and was bit off frequently by the toothy ones. All in all a fun contest and a deserving King was crowned. Looks like I'll be ice fishing with royalty this year.

DATE ---------------------- October 11 & 12
TIMES --------------------- 5:00 AM to 11:300 PM on Saturday / 8:00AM to 2:00 PM on Sunday
CONDITIONS ------------- Magnificant Weather! Got chilly at night.
AREA FISHED ------------- Elba Point / Yacht Club / Pine Tree / Racoon Island and many other spots
WATER TEMPERATURE-- Unknown
FISHING METHOD ------- Bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring
NOTES --------------------- I got the 7lb. Walleye at about 9 AM on Saturday at Elba Point off the boathouses. In fact, between 8:30 and 10:30, I caught the Walleye, White Perch, Brown Cat and the Crappie at the same location (all with Herring). The Walleye was caught on my light rod with a free swimming Herring while the others were caught with a Herring about three feet above a sinker. I also got a 3 lb.14 oz. Striper at the same spot, but it got wiped off the board.
I couldn't get a Channel Catfish or a White Catfish. It got really cold so I only stayed out until 11:30 PM. When I got back on the lake Sunday morning, I was skunked until about 15 minuites left in the contest. Then I finally hooked into some Yellow Perch, but they were too small.
Strange stat.... I not only caught the only White Perch, but I caught 2 of them. Both were 8 oz!
When I docked, I told Barnes Brothers Marina to pull my boat. See you on the ice.

NOTES --------------------- First day got off to a rocky start. Joe Tekula and I were fishing together out of my 16' alumunium "ship". We managed launching out of Lee's, but had trouble starting my motor. Finally exhausted 1st battery and hooked up second. Lost 30 min before reaching Dow's. Got half way across toward chestnut when again the motor died. After exhausting second battery we paddled back to Dow's. Joe at Dow's fix me up with a new gas hose fitting (sucking air)and a loaner battery and we were off again. We both caught alot of small fish and the second day was about the same. However, it was a great two days of fishing with Captain Tekula. You guys with big boats, don't get mad at me, but it was great not getting hit by wakes from big boats.
