NOTES --------------------- Fishing alone. Wanted to get out before wind picked-up. Started off, at mouth of Lee's cove. Ran the shoreline all the way to tip of Bertrands Island. Picked up two small picks before Barnes Marina, then I hooked up a double header of trout, both browns, Knee Deep, with this year tags. (**Attn: TIM) One was very silver on belly and side, spots were thinning and all same color, dorsal was greenish brown. Same as some I caught last week. Definitely, not hold over. This time I read tags. Next time I'll take pictures. Picked-up third trout before Shore Hills beach, again brown. All trout about 13"s. Along Bertrands picked up a nice perch. At tip of Bertrands, I got slammed by a nice rainbow. Again Knee Deep tag. Looked like a slice on side. I kept this one in my live well until I was sure it was ok. Released this one also. Size was 15" and alittle over 18oz. By 11:00 AM, wind started and I went home.

The next 2 hr. I lost 10 fish and caught 2 kneedeep browns. Saw a lot of fish on the depth sounder. I have found a spring pattern on the big trout. Over the last 5 years when I see these conditions on my depth sounder I can catch big fish. Today I saw the this in 2 coves and caught big fish. I lost a rainbow of over 4 lbs and caught a 3lb 13oz brown. If your looking for big perch go to riverstyxx and fish 1/2 way between the bait barge and the weeds. They love a #7 rapalas at 2.4 mph and almost any color. Totals for the day 5 kneedeep browns, 1rainbow, 1brookie, 19perchand 1 pickerel. All kneedeep fish but the big one released. As we fished by Florianes we met up with Pete Pelligrino in his boat . We ran to Dows and picked 4 1/2 more dozen fatheads and went fishing. We went right were we found them in the morning, anchored and started catching. Between the three of us we probaly caught 40 Crappie in the boat. When the rain came we stopped fishing and went to Dows.Pete had to go.(THANX PETE) Around 3pm we took a dows boat and casted by Bradys for a while. We caught a couple perch and white perch. We decided to change up, and troll. We were using small raplas to catch perch. We were using ultra light gear. We caught a few perch, then one pass coming through the bridge Dan hooked up with a big fish. He fought it on his ultra light with 4lb test, as he fought I figured it was a big walleye. We had no net. Dan pulled the fish up and I grabbed it and brought in the boat. This walleye was big. It weighed 9lbs even and was 28inchs long. Absoultely the biggest walleye Dan had ever caught. We took lots of pictures. After we got done releasing the beast we stared trolling again. I caught a small walleye that was 14inchs. The as we trolled out to end the day Dan caught a walleye that was 4inchs. Defintely the greatest day on the lake. And this is no April fools!
