TIMES --------------------- 2 PM to 5 PM
CONDITIONS ------------- Hot, humid and breezy
AREA FISHED ------------- Byram Bay
FISHING METHOD ------- anchored in about 15 feet of water
BAIT/LURES USED ------- live worms on jigs
NOTES --------------------- Stephen is 3 years old and this is his first fishing trip. His Grandfather wanted to make sure he caught something so they used worms. Stephen caught 8 fish (perch Yellow, white perch and plenty sunfish) in about an hour. Would have been more, but we had a problem with the concept of keeping the bait in the water to catch fish. Stephen is now hooked and keeps asking to go fishing again. There would have been pictures, but his grandfather forgot the digital camera. Plenty of panfish to be caught all over the lake on small jigs. The white perch where nice size.

CONDITIONS ------------- foggy, light rain, and humid
AREA FISHED ------------- main lake
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 78-80
FISHING METHOD ------- trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- crankbaits
NOTES --------------------- After trolling all spring for different species and fishing live bait a few times this summer, I can't seem to keep muskie out of my head. So I trolled deep water hoping to come across the big one. Needless to say I didn't get "the big one" (that seems to invade my thought process daily) but I did manage to catch fish. This one was caught at boatside while retrieving the trolled lure to check for weeds and surprise! With the swivel from the leader right at the rod tip I saw a flash, then thrash and felt the pull, set the hook, and fish on! The fish was about 40 inches in length;
Once again I realized the importance of having a BIG net. It makes it possible to land the fish without ever having to take it out of the water, snap a picture, and say SEE YA! In my trolling travels I spotted splashes on the surface in deep water then saw seagulls diving, so I let the guys know on the radio where it was happening. Dominic and Kenny ran over and hooked up with stripers immediately (an 8 and 7 pounder). I never see that when I'm fishing for stripers!
