Jon jigged 2 nice walleye between 20-22inchs. Beautiful fish! Eddie had a 30 or so inch muskie at the hole but broke then line. Sunday we tried the same spot and hoped for the same good luck. John caught 2 nice walleyes in the early begging and then Eddie caught a 21 inch walleye on a tip up and the the perch moved in with force. We caught 2 dozen perch then the bluegils moved in and caught a bunch of them. Alot of species this weekend. But defintly the first time for a bigger smallmouth through the ice!

BAIT/LURES USED ------- shiners

NOTES --------------------- Well the first contest was quality over quanity..this day was the opposite..caught a bunch pickerel(largest 2lbs+) and a few perch but nothing big enough to weigh in. Was still a fun day anyway and i hope the ice lasts for a few more weeks. The suprise catch of the day came when a fellow contest participant came over to talk to us and said he caught a rainbow trout. He caught it on a tip up and wasnt more than 40-50 feet from the state park beach..noticed the other day it was good enough for 1st in the Other species catagory..nice job.

WATER TEMPERATURE-- Cold

FISHING METHOD ------- TipUps and Jigging

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shinners, MealWorms, Jigs

NOTES --------------------- Great time as usual in the cove. The ice was fine and plenty of company considering all the groups fishing the KDC contest. We caught about 4 pickerel, 10-15 perch, and quite a few nice sized crappie to our surprise. One was caught on a tipup and we quickly followed up by jigging the spot and made out well. The hot homemade chile, soup, and pickled perch caught from the previous excursion, rounded out the day. One of the guys in the cove caught a 24" pickerel, and another was said to have caught and released a 5lb bass. Can't wait to go again! Maybe we'll try night fishing for a change.

Ended the day with 2 pickeral, 5 perch and 1 bass (2 lb. 13 oz.) between all four of us. Although the flags were few and far between, it was a great day weather-wise to spend the day on the ice! We will return for Tournament II on the 20th. Hoping for another nice day & some big fish.

NOTES --------------------- The beautiful day brought out 103 entries in the Knee Deep Club's Annual Ice Fishing Contest. I prefer it partly cloudy, but there were no clouds to be found on this day. With the temps high, the clothes slowly were stripped as the day progressed. Brian Murphy and myself, managed to ice 6 Pickerel. The biggest were only in the 2.5 Lb. range, but, ah, what a day to be out there, having a cigar and chasing the tip-ups. Looking forward to the next contest on the 20th.
