DATE ---------------------- July 11, 2004
TIMES --------------------- Late afternoon-late evening
CONDITIONS ------------- RIDICULOUSLY rough. Too many jet skiers and speed boaters to count.
AREA FISHED ------------- River Styx and Sharpe's Rock
WATER TEMPERATURE-- Warm
FISHING METHOD ------- Jigging(worm), live lining herring
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring for stripers, baby nightcrawlers for everything else.
NOTES --------------------- It was so rough out on the lake tonight that I left wondering why the state of NJ does absolutely nothing to limit the size of boats on this waterway. I swear, I had 27ft. cigarette boats swamping me from left, right, front and back. Totally ridiculous.
With that said, it was slow fishing. I did catch a 14inch largemouth and a medium sized bluegill in River Styx on the crawler. Then, when the madness died down a bit, me and my buddy went over to Sharpe's Rock and basically waited for the stripers to come by. By the time we started marking them on the fish finder, it was too late and time to head home. This is the time that the water really started to calm down, too. Frustrating to say the least.
Oh well, enough of my complaining. I'll be back many more times this summer, but it will certainly be on a weekday when the fishermen have the place to themselves.
Good luck and good fishin'.
Jim
