NOTES --------------------- My cousin drove my grandparents down from Rhode Island and I was finally able to take my grandfather out fishing here in NJ, thanks Mike! It really meant a lot to me to be able to take the man that got me started fishing out for a while. I never did thank him for getting me started but hopefully he knows I appreciate it. We had a good time catching a half dozen perch, 2 walleye, a pickerel, crappie, and small muskie.

Nabbed a one-eyed striper that went 5 lbs on the button, and 3 state stocked browns(all about 10 inches). Moved into the shallows and caught several pickerel, rock bass, yellow perch, and crappie on Panther Martin. Lake got busy pretty early. I guess the summer season is here.

After that it was just a boat ride.

NOTES --------------------- Fishing was spotty. Trolled for a couple of hours straight lining silver spinners that produced 5 trout between 10 to 12 inches. I tried the flats by Brady Bridge which produced 0 by trolling and casting Rapalas in many different colors. By noon I anchored in about 15 feet of water off Chestnut Point and free lined herring that produced a number of white and yellow perch. All fished released.

FISHING METHOD ------- Trolling and casting
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Rapalas, spoonplugs and jigs
NOTES --------------------- It was not easy to tear myself away from the great shad fishing on the Delaware river to make my inaugural trip to the lake. I worked about six main lake structures casting and trolling and also some of the flats. The movements seemed spotty and, although just a spot or two produced all the fish, I had to wait a long time between fish. Scattered pickerel, two smallmouth bass, three largemouth bass, four walleye between 4 and 5 3/4 lbs. and one pure-strain musky, legal but not remarkable. The better fish came from the main lake side of Sharp's Rock. The highlight of the day was the birdlife. Once again(it was May 20th of last year)from over the top of Halsey Island came soaring on huge, flat wings a mature bald eagle. The pure white head and tail were clear to the naked eye. The eagle caught a thermal and road it for twenty minutes up higher and higher until I could no longer see it in the bright sun. This sighting made my day. ALL FISH WERE RELEASED.

I've only had a couple of other hits. Any suggestions out there? Hey guys! Where are your reports? And please be as specific as possible. We can all help each other! Thanks

NOTES --------------------- Started quick with a 3 lb walleye trolling north end, no action after that, so started casting and got a nice 15" rainbow in Henderson Cove. Don't know where the usual pickerel were, but finally broke out Lauries's herring for the first time this year. Landed 2 stripers near Brady Bridge, largest was 6 lb 3 oz. Ended up today with 4 great fish. All because of stocking programs.

FISHING METHOD ------- trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- rapala
NOTES --------------------- We just started trolling a small 3" rapala along racoon island when mt wife's pole doubled back. This was her first time on the boat this year so it figures after 45 seconds she would have a fish. At first I thought it was a big striper until it's tail came out of the water....it was a huge muskie!! We got it boatside but it's head barely fit in the net. It was like trying to get a shark in a goldfish net!! It was a big mistake using the net because the treble hooks got caught and pulled the lure right out of his mouth. Even though he never made it in the boat, this was the biggest fish I have ever seen!!!
