AREA FISHED ------------- GREAT COVE TO RACOON ISLAND
WATER TEMPERATURE-- 71 SURFACE
FISHING METHOD ------- TROLLING
BAIT/LURES USED ------- REBEL WINDCHEATERS & JAKE BAIT
NOTES --------------------- MY FIRST TROLLING PASS WAS INTO THE MOUTH OF GREAT COVE. I SAW MY GOOD BUDDY JEFF LOY WORKING THE SAME AREA. I MADE A TURN INTO DEEPER WATER AND CUT MY SPEED DOWN TO 2.5 MAYBE 3 MPH. SOON AS OUR CONVERSATION STARTED MY PORT SIDE FLATLINE WENT OFF AND STARTED TO BUCK VIOLENTLY. THIS WAS WAY TO GOOD TO BE TRUE. MY LINES WERE NOT IN THE WATER FOR MORE THAN 5 MINUTES. THE FIGHT WENT ON. THE FISH FELT BIG AND PUT UP AN EXCELLENT FIGHT. I FINALLY BROUGHT A BEAUTIFUL TRUE STRAIN MUSKIE TO NET. JEFF, THE GOOD FRIEND THAT HE IS, CAME OVER FOR AN ASSIST. HOOKS WERE REMOVED AND THE MUSKIE PUT INTO JEFF'S CRADDLE TO PREVENT ANY INJURY. THE MUSKIE MEASURED IN AT 44" AND WEIGHED IN JUST SHY OF 20 LBS. AFTER SOME NICE PHOTOS TAKEN BY JEFF FROM HIS BOAT THE FISH WAS REVIVED THEN RELEASED. WE HAD THE LAKE TO OURSELVES AND I HAD A GREAT DAY. BETTER YET, I SHARED THIS GREAT EXPERIENCE WITH A GREAT FRIEND. THANKS JEFF, SEE YA ON THE WATER.

TIMES --------------------- 6:30-10:30am
CONDITIONS ------------- rain and fog
AREA FISHED ------------- main lake
WATER TEMPERATURE -- 71
FISHING METHOD ------- trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- crankbaits
NOTES --------------------- I took the day off to get some things done around the house and spend some time with the kids before they went back to school. But I really wanted to go fishing so I managed to do a little of everything. Trolling the weedline and drop-offs did nothing for me so I switched over to the deep water search and nailed this 44 incher.
