BAIT/LURES USED ------- minnows and lures
NOTES --------------------- Slow pick'n at Chestnut. Only 1 pickerel and a few perch, plus a few missed perch flags. Fished 8 ft. to 40 ft. Could'nt be worse, if we moved in front of Dow's. Could it?? Well, not a single flag from 1 till 5!!! Guys there all day said not a single flag, either, all day. Large party...down from us in the cove, jigging up (and keeping everything, of course) small perch and some skinny pickerel.

NOTES --------------------- There definitely was more flags in the Super Bowl, but we managed to pull a few fish through the 16+" of ice. The hand auger is becoming obsolete! Several Perch and a few Pickerel were caught by our gang. The highlite of the day was the array of Venicen meats, including Sausage, marinated loins, and sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers. The grand re-appearance of the Mayfield and D'Allesandro clan(s) was way over due. See you next weekend.

NOTES --------------------- The day started slow and ended slow. There was about 6 inches of ice. We caught two fish all day. I should say I caught two fish while Brian kept running back an forth to clean ice off the holes. One pick 2.5lbs and the perch lets say it was a fish. All my soda froze and the adult beverages were getting slushy. Next time my stove comes out, no more frozen ham and cheese for me.

The hot and cold food was great, and so was the fishing. Pulled up many Pickerel up to 20", Perch up to 12" and a Largemouth at 16". Also, thanks to Lou Marcucci for entertaining members of the the press who are going to do stories on our club and this contest. Stay tuned for a piece by Cablevision on TV, and a Daily Record centerfold featuring the ice contest.

First flag came as we were setting our second set of five tip-ups, just a flag no fish, but its a start.rest of day was kinda slow, 4 or 5 pickerele no more than about 18". I jigged up a small walleye, also we iced a couple of perch. To top off the day I iced a pickerle that I was told landed in third place. Thanx Webguy for taking him to Dows. Also a big thank you to Polar Pat Lange and Sue Berman for the outstanding accomodations, you guys made 11 hrs. on the ice feel like home.

NOTES --------------------- Finally back to what I like best, ice fishing. Jigged up about 30 perch up to 12 inches and a few bluegill. Ice is anywhere from 5 to 9 inches thick depending on where you go. Don't let anyone tell you perch are always easy. They would not touch a mousie. All they wanted was jig with wax worm. Also got cut off by two pickeral. I know one was pretty big.
