AREA FISHED ------------- Main lake up to up to cow tounge, sunken island and barnes ridge.
FISHING METHOD ------- Trolling, drifting and live lining.
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Rapalas and herring.
NOTES --------------------- Trolled for about 2 hours. Nothing. Marked a lot of fish at 18 to 20 feet. Tried drifting with a drift sock. Thought the slower presentation of live bait would help. Nothing. We set anchor at Barnes ridge. Wow! Five walleyes from 14 to 28 inches. An added bonus, a 3 3/4 pound, nearly 22 inch smallmouth. All fish caught between 18 feet and the bottom. All in all, one of the best days we've had on the lake.

AREA FISHED ------------- Cow Tongue, Chestnut, Main lake
FISHING METHOD ------- Drifting, jigging, trolling
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners, worm harnesses, rapalas
NOTES --------------------- Fishing was unbelievably slow all morning, but it was nice to see the lake calm and not choppy from boats that belong in the ocean!! Anyway, have not landed a Walleye since April, Where are they??? Somebody help me out!! Well, anyway, went to Chestnut point to drift and jig for walleye and heard a splash behind me.... it looked like the water was boiling. The stripers were chasing the herring and the first cast of my 5" Rapala landed a 7.5 lb striper 27" long. First one and now hooked. Somebody please send me an email with some tips on catching these things!!
Also, any clues on the Walleyes would be most appreciated, thanks!

CONDITIONS ------------- Rainy, warm, breezy
AREA FISHED ------------- Pretty much all over
FISHING METHOD ------- Still fishing
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Set sail on the lake in a slight drizzle. About a half hour later it turned into a heavy rain. Continued on and off all night. About 2:00am I picked up a 4 pound cat across the lake from Dows on a shiner. That was about it until I got another 1 pound cat in Byram cove around 3:30am. I picked up a baby cata bit later on. At 6:15am I picked up a bass that was about 3 pounds on a rubber worm. That was about all the action for the night except for some hard fighting weeds. There were only about 3 other boats out all night that we could see. All in all it was a great night, which of course translates into, "A slow night for fishing but anytime fishing is great!"

NOTES --------------------- Slow going today. Lots of boats in Byram cove but only 1 other guy fishing. Picked up a perch and a real ugly catfish after about the first hour. It wasn't until we pulled the lines up for the last time that night around 9:30 that I brought up a small catfish. Other than an occasional bite that was it for the evening.

NOTES --------------------- Although our fishing night was the slowest out of all the years, patience and time definitely paid off. Patti brought in the contest winner in the early morning hours with a nice Channel Cat. Harry and Edwin captured prizes of a rod and tackle box with their channels as well. But as I stated we didn't even come close to catching the amounts of bullheads and channels that we have caught in previous years of this contest. Could it be to hot? Who knows? Our evening started out with a major snag. Apparently 2 fishermen decided to anchor their boat directly next to our dock and decided to cast directly our way. We were in shock that these guys could be disrespectful anglers and actually were planning to cast and anchor right next to our dock. We ended up landing 8 channels and 1/2 dozen bullheads but everyone went home happy with the end result. Great contest Knee Deep Club!!!!!!!!

My name is Larry Verdicchio and I have recently become a member of the Knee Deep Club. I would like to know if there is anyone who would like a fishing partner. I am available at any time you would want to fish and would share in any expenses. Unfortunately, I am handicapped, but it does not prevent me from the enjoyment of fishing. I can get onto a boat and off a boat with canes. I am an experienced fisherman and once had my own boat which I had to sell due to my physical difficulties. I drive my own car. If anyone is interested, please give me a call (908) 580-0335. This would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Larry
