NAME --------------------- Kevin Dempsey
DATE ---------------------- October 30
TIMES --------------------- 2-5 PM
CONDITIONS ------------- Clear Windy 58
AREA FISHED ------------- Henderson Cove
FISHING METHOD ------- Drifting
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Herring
NOTES --------------------- I had just put in 2 herring on slip bobbers and reached for a sandwich when both clickers went off. First rod hooked a weed fish. Thought the second was too, until I set the hook. A really big fish which stayed down until about 10 minutes later it blasted out of the water. A big tiger muskie which I was able to land. It measured 40 inches and went over the top of my 15 lb normark scale. I'd guess it was about 20 pounds. He swam away in great shape. What a way to end the 2001 season.

BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shiners
NOTES --------------------- Fishing with Paul Avenius on his pontoon boat. We got blown off Racoon Island but not before being bit off after a brief fight. Using shiners without steel leaders. Moved to Lee's Cove to try to avoid the wind. Landed a 36" True Strain Musky after a 10 minute struggle. As soon as it was netted, the line broke! Pictures taken and fish released in good condition. It was a beautiful fish, strong and heavy.

I estimate the fish to be close to 36" long and weigh between 12-16 pounds. It hit the rainbow trout colored bomber and was released unharmed but well photographed. I even managed to get some video of the action. I plan on submitting one of the pictures to Catch Corner. At about 6:15 pm I had a smaller fish on but he threw the hook. A long day but what a catch.. I can't wait until my next trip I just wished it was not 125 miles one way. MY THANKS AND CONGRATULATIONS TO THE KNEE DEEP CLUB! YOU GUYS ARTE DOING A GREAT JOB!!

DATE ---------------------- 10/05/01
TIMES --------------------- 7:00AM-12:00PM
CONDITIONS ------------- 7:00-10:00 calm and flat !0:00 12:00 wind picked up
AREA FISHED ------------- Lee's Park, Mt. Arlington Beach, Great Cove area
FISHING METHOD ------- Drifting with two poles deep and two with bobbers both with live bait
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Shinners
NOTES --------------------- The weather was great but can't say the same for the fishing. Even over at Dow's they got less than three dozen herring of the bait barges over night. Maybe it was the almost full harvest moon. The fish were all over the screen on the fish finder in fact I never have seen so many fish at so many depths befor, but they just weren't hitting on the shinners. After five hours the total was three perch, one crappie but it was still better than working and the lunch at the Jefferson House was great.
