NOTES --------------------- Last Sunday was the best ice fishing I've seen all winter in 15 plus trips. TC caught a 5Lb. 5 Oz. Largemouth early jigging with a large rapala w/ mousie in 6ft. water. Caught two three pound plus pickeral, plus a few smaller bass, pickeral and perch. Then finished the day with another 5+ Lb. Largemouth. This spot seems to be the best place I know to catch nice Bass through the ice. Hope the ice holds up for another few weeks....

CONDITIONS ------------- Windy Partly Sunny
AREA FISHED ------------- Coves
FISHING METHOD ------- Jigging
BAIT/LURES USED ------- Jig and mousie
NOTES --------------------- Well, this may be the last time for me ice fishing for this year. Still 8 to 9 inches of ice on the lake. Some open spots on the shoreline. Caught about 45 yellow perch. Kept 25 nice fat females to 12-13 inches. Caught some perch spitting up herring. I must say this was one of the best ice fishing seasons and the perch were of good size. Cannot wait till next year. As always, stay on top. Good open water fishing to everyone.

DATE ---------------------- 3/3/01
TIMES --------------------- 9am-6pm
CONDITIONS ------------- cloudy
AREA FISHED ------------- Bertrand Island
FISHING METHOD ------- tip-ups
BAIT/LURES USED ------- shiners
NOTES --------------------- We tried the main lake point off the island for the first time through the ice and it was a pretty slow day. Pat had a muskie on but lost it at the hole and 2 minutes later had a bite off on the next tip-up over. Only a couple of perch and pickerel for the day. Shallow flats still seem to be the place to fish but we had to try something different.
